OSIsoft welcomes another crew

This week is another orientation week at OSIsoft. So again we are welcoming the new hires on board from here at headquarters. With murmurs of consolidation and tough times both locally and abroad, our continued growth makes me appreciate being here all the more. Just like during my orientation week 14 months ago, in addition to a jam packed 4 days of instruction for the attendees, this week features our standard schedule of fun as well. Monday kicks off the week with a noon pizza party out on the picnic benches. Tuesday features a dinner at the local San Leandro favorite, Paradiso restaurant. The class is off to a customer site tour on Wednesday to see PI in action. Then they have department day Thursday before wrapping up and heading home Friday. With another good-sized group, it’s a good thing we’re given multiple opportunities for meeting and greeting. Monday I met three of the fellows from Rio Brazil, Brussels Belgium and northern Chek Republic. Tuesday I was tickled to meet a fellow QA Engineer from the Philadelphia office (who remembered my QUAIL presentation last July), a new hire from Johnson City (who already had practically met me from the news of talkative Joe), and a bubbly manager from New Orleans ((who insisted we all come visit the wonderful city even if it is still under construction in parts). The one thing in common with all the engineers, developers, salesmen and managers who have joined OSIsoft this last year (or gone through the orientation they never had when first starting) is their friendly personality and keen intellect. I certainly haven’t met anyone without a great story or two to tell. Before long, at the rate things are going, I’ll have someone to visit in all the states and major countries around the world! It’s too bad that there are not more hours in the day and week.
