The first Eureka excursion goes well

The first excursion to Eureka has been a success and also an adventure. For Dr. TJ’s second week at Humboldt Medical Eye Associates (2434 Harrison Avenue, Eureka, California), we all came up together. Setting up shop on one of the open desks, it was a pleasure to spend a day working in the midst of the clinic. Now I know that the drive is worth the visit for anyone needing eye care.
In contrast to the civilized office, living at the Big Lagoon Bungalow reminded me of a ski trip to a half-furnished Tajo cabin, just one step up from car camping. The experience of being behind the “redwood curtain” was a first; you better have all you need because there’s nothing for 20 miles. Still, the sound of the waves just beyond the back deck was magical. This is the place to come if you need an escape from the digital buzz of city life. Many places call for adventuring up here.
