My first portabella mushroom harvest is splendid. Religiously moistening the soil daily and patiently waiting for 21 days has rewarded us with my first home-grown portabella. With a full rotation of the base, the stem came out nearly intact. Being a fan of the portabella sandwiches, we cut the top in 4 pieces in order to fit the sesame buns from the BBQ and then sliced the stem into thin slices. Sautéing in garlic and olive oil until tender and serving on buns made the most scrumptious meal.
