Upon returning home from the wild west a new sound penetrated the neighborhood activity from right outside the dining room window. Over a game of pinochle I heard the cry of a new born baby kitten coming from the canopy of the grape vine. The grey cat who had been seen bulging with new life before my trip had evidently given birth and abandoned her little ones as soon as the teething gnaw got on her nerves. Mother came to the rescue. The kittens were scarcely bigger than puff balls and absolutely adorable. The two curled up in their basket bed on the porch quite content with their new temporary home.
