Hook Up the Sun

The big day arrived bright and early when Joseph rang the doorbell at a quarter to 8. There’s nothing like a crew chomping at the bit before the world has woken.  I was glad to have three hours of quiet time before the commotion began.  Despite expressed estimates of effort, interruption and schedule, the job was completed in just under five hours by a crew of three.  The crew chief knew his trade well and patiently answered the barrage of questions we asked him.  I inspected all the parts to paint the puzzle of how the full array structure assembles, except for the rails.  The building code now requires two grounds be visible.  The first one was not apparent from the panel so it was important we were on hand to show we did have one already and negotiate where a second be added.  The grounding rod was perhaps the only part of the project that was less than perfect.  The hole they drilled was over-sized for the rod and will have to be filled and painted.
