Marina Park Beats the Gym

At last today the sweet smell of Spring permeated the coastal air as a warm sun beamed its gentle glow on an awakening land. Who could stand the thought of sitting inside if given the choice to bathe in the birth of Spring? Just last week we had rain. Now…well its hardly short of idyllic. How fitting then that this third Friday of Spring happened to be the first time a jaunt in the park could be scheduled?
Yes indeed, after three and a half months since training in the dreary and congested box of 24-Hour Fitness, today Markus and I initiated our Friday work-out in the park. It’s a good thing my progress continued through the Winter months on the machines at Bally’s because otherwise the hour could have been a royal ordeal. It just goes to show that one can be perfectly fit simply by playing in the park. Sampson lunges, the Pike walk, Russian steps, the Grizzly bear crawl and medicine ball throw all together make for a great full-body workout. As long as you’re not allergic, do remember to take a roll in the grass next time you stop to smell the pretty Spring flowers. With birds chirping, trees rustling and Dinosaur kites flapping above and around, the workout hardly seemed like “work”. Of course, tomorrow I might have a different opinion.
