As one week since the fateful day draws to a close, the tides of hope have turned full circle. After fun with Freemont friends Saturday and a Tower/Tech expedition Sunday, today data access was restored once again. On Sunday, the folks down at Centeral Computers were able to supply me with all the latest hardware I needed or some day might need, in lew of leaving the laptop with them to fix on their own time. I was not about to commit to another five hour trip! (BART and AC Transit did the job but the clock added up.) Instead, a brand new 500 GB laptop hard drive, a USB external hard drive enclosure and a nifty HD docking station became the bounty from the journey. Vineet swapped the drives yesterday and the green lights lit up. Best of all, only two unimportant file so far are unreadable. As soon as the plates clear of the current server course, we’ll get back in business. In the mean time, we agreed it was due time for scheduling an adaptive tech guy to come in and do all the dirty configuration work, while I take my lunch break. The question still remaining is what operating system should I install on Toshiba2010?
The summer roller coaster continues…at least tomorrow is a party day =).
