Cluck Cluck Egg

Today two little white eggs appeared in the chicken nest! In just four months the little chicks have grown into mature pullets with adult voices. The sight was a pleasant surprise because we were not expecting eggs until the end of summer. Indeed, Murray McMurray even predicts that “Most hens start laying eggs at 24 weeks.” 18 week layers is a testament to good breeding. It’s no surprise Whity the Leghorn laid the first egg the size of a robin’s egg.
All the attention around the nest is now explained. Let the laying begin. Who will be next? Blacky? Goldy? Star bright?
